Our recap video from Via Ferrata Teto do Mundo.
Our last Portuguese via ferrata event for the Operation Hook II project took place on October 13, 2024, at Teto do Mundo. With beautiful sunny weather, we had a group of 15 participants, split into two smaller groups arriving at different times. Each group had a dedicated briefing on equipment and safety techniques to prepare for the journey ahead. Participants learned safety practices like using emergency knots and managing equipment effectively, setting the stage for a safe and enjoyable climb.
The route itself offered stunning views, making it a favorite for those who love scenic routes. While climbing, participants admired the vast landscapes, taking moments to rest and enjoy the surroundings. Besides the thrill of the via ferrata, the day also included some exploration of the area, where participants visited nearby lakes and spotted wild cows grazing in the fields. A few brave adventurers even took a quick swim, adding to the day’s fun.
Completing this final via ferrata event in Portugal was a proud moment for all of us involved at Operation Hook II. It has been a pleasure introducing so many young people to the excitement of via ferrata, promoting both safe practices and a love for this outdoor sport. Although this project chapter is now closed, we look forward to future opportunities to bring more young people into this incredible experience.
