Let me tell you about Young People in Action, a blended mobility part of the KA2 project: Citizenship in Action. This mobility took place in November 2024 in Peniche, a friendly village in Portugal famous for its intense Surf culture. The activity brought together participants from five countries: Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Czechia, and Slovakia.
Before the start of the mobility itself, we got a warm-up task for the amazing days that were about to come. This task involved creating a video on an inspiring subject from within our circle. The video could be an interview, a compilation of digital content, or anything up to our creativity. Here are a few examples :’)
The 20th of November was the day when we all met at that beautiful and friendly place named Peniche Surf Camp. Yes… Our accommodation was basically a Surf school (How cool is that?!). Cheers to the friendly staff who accommodated us so nicely! We were surrounded by good vibes and catching waves at the lunch breaks became part of the routine :P
The first day was mainly about breaking the ice while exploring the beautiful surroundings (and the amazing beaches of course!). We also engaged in deep conversations and debates about active citizenship topics where everybody was encouraged to share their perspectives.
The next day we finally unpacked our gear from those heavy backpacks full of cameras and started making some magic. After a lecture about photography concepts and tips, we were given the task of completing a serie of photography challenges (including taking photos in different environments, making portraits of random people, and playing with the settings of our cameras). Take a moment to check a few shots *_*
We dedicated the next day to a task that we called “Guerrilla Interviews“. Basically, we had about 24 hours to conduct a series of interviews with locals and/or visitors in Peniche. Those interviews gathered the perspectives of strangers on multiple issues. They were also a great tool to make us know better this warm community. We compiled those interviews into some videos, and below you can watch three of them:
After the previous task, we got more confident about the last mission of this adventure: to plan, record, and edit a documentary (from the beginning to the end) where we addressed a diversity of citizenship topics. From climatic challenges to personal struggles. Showcasing sustainable practices, traditions, and a wide variety of elements that make Peniche unique and awesome <3
