Košice

In June 2024, Košice, Slovakia became the stage for another inspiring edition of the Active Citizenship Campaign, part of the Citizenship in Action project. This time, after a short introductory video workshop, young people from Košice came together to explore their creativity and learn the basics of videography — not just for the sake of art, but to address the realities of their local community.

During the campaign, participants were introduced to the world of filmmaking, gaining skills in camera work, storytelling, and video editing. But most importantly, they used these new tools to raise their voices about the societal issues that matter most to them.

The result? A thought-provoking short movie created by the participants themselves, reflecting their perspectives on the challenges and hopes they see in Košice.

Bratislava

Later in the year, participants from Bratislava, took the skills acquired during the project to shoot a documentary about a community center in the capital city. They went to Centrum rodiny, which is a non-profit organization that is building a community center and offering a space for everyone who cares about society, the people around them, and the environment they live in. Through their activities, they bring together different generations and diverse individuals. They aim to help make society better. They give a second chance to unsellable food and clothing, as well as to people on the margins of society.
