Via Ferrata Vír for inclusion of people facing geographical obstacles 2

On August 25, 2024, at 3 PM, nine participants gathered in Vír, ready to engage in an informative and practical activity organized by Four Links. The activity began with Aneta providing a brief introduction to E29, its mission, and ongoing projects. With a clear blue sky and ideal weather conditions, Aneta delved into origins of ferratas, emphasizing the significance of international rankings and route markings. The main objective was to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for safely navigating ferrata routes.

The activity transitioned into a comprehensive safety training, where Aneta highlighted common mistakes made on ferratas. The group practiced tying the prusik knot, an skill good-to-know before entering the Ferrata. Aneta then introduced the equipment to be used, ensuring everyone properly put on their gear with a thorough cross-check. With anticipation and excitement, the group proceeded to the Ferrata route, prepared for the hands-on experience.

Under Aneta’s guidance, the participants successfully tied the prusik knot on the Ferrata rope, securing themselves with confidence. The participants expressed satisfaction with the activity, feeling both empowered and more knowledgeable about Ferrata safety. By the end of the activity, the group was eager to apply their newfound skills in future Ferrata adventures.
