Video Recap of our Hike in Moravský Kras
Our hike took place in the Moravian Karst, one of the most unique natural areas in Czechia. Starting near Ostrov u Macochy, the route led us through a landscape shaped by limestone and water over thousands of years. Forest paths alternated with rocky sections, sinkholes, and open clearings, making it clear why this region is known for its caves, collapses, and unusual terrain. One of the highlights along the way was the Rudice karst collapse, a striking reminder of the underground processes that continue to shape the area.
As we progressed, the variety of the terrain kept the hike engaging. Gentle forest trails allowed for steady walking, while uneven rocky passages required more attention and careful movement. These sections offered a good opportunity to focus on hiking safety and understanding the specific challenges of karst landscapes, where the ground can change quickly and paths are often less predictable. The natural diversity of the area made the route feel dynamic without being overwhelming.
We ended the hike in Blansko after a full day outdoors, covering a long but rewarding route. The Moravian Karst provided a strong balance between physical activity and learning through direct experience. Walking through this distinctive landscape helped participants better understand how geology, nature, and movement come together, making the hike both educational and enjoyable.
