Summary
Do you want to learn how to make your community more fun and lively and provide opportunities for young people? Are you a person who likes to use their voice to advocate for inclusion, who likes to gain new skills, and who loves thinking creatively?
If your answer to the above questions is “yes!”, then the Shock Waves Youth Exchange is for you.
This inspiring activity will take place in Portugal, and it is designed for young people like you who want to make a real difference in their communities. Throughout 8 days of hands-on workshops, you will have the opportunity to actively learn how to organize inclusive local events that offer cultural and social opportunities for young people from all backgrounds. In this way, you will be able to help your community grow and flourish!
You will gain these valuable skills in a smooth and fun way, thanks to non-formal education methods that include open discussions, reflections, workshops in international teams, creative photography-related activities and so much more! Through these interactive sessions, your learning process will feel natural, fun, and rewarding. No boring lectures!
In addition to the practical and transferable skills you will develop, you will also have the chance to connect with people from all across Europe. Together, you will create meaningful memories, share experiences, and form lifelong friendships. Moreover, you will be able to step out of your comfort zone by exploring Portugal and discovering more about the cultures and traditions of the other participating countries.
If all this sounds exciting to you, then don’t wait – apply now and become part of this unforgettable experience!
Participant Profile
Selection Criteria
We aim for a balanced group across countries, genders, and experience levels. This activity values diversity of experience and background – past experience in the field is not required (Erasmus is all about learning, after all!), however, we welcome participants with more expertise who can support their less experienced peers during their learning journey.
Young people from geographically or economically disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly welcome, as the project seeks to foster growth and inclusion through youth-led engagement.
We’re especially looking for participants who show a willingness to contribute actively: That means more than attending every session. It’s about bringing good energy, supporting your peers, taking initiative, and even sharing your own skills or ideas with the group. Whether you feel comfortable leading a session or helping someone set up a projector, your involvement will make a difference!
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply early, as spots are limited!

Location and Venue
We will be accommodated at Peniche Surf Camp, just a few meters from the beach. This inspiring venue offers the perfect blend of comfort and connection, allowing us to engage with the local community and immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of Peniche. The camp includes shared rooms for 4-5 people, organized by gender, as well as common areas such as a kitchen, a group activity room, and balconies for relaxation and socializing. Participants can also schedule surf lessons during their free time (at their own cost) for an extra dose of adventure.
