Join us for an adventurous hike on a scenic route in Veporské vrchy with the focus being on safe hiking. Disconnect from your routine and reconnect with nature! Go on a hike with an expert guide and experience a fun and safe adventure that brings like-minded people together. Not only will you experience beautiful scenery, but you’ll also get to experience a social activity where you can meet new friends and build real relationships.

Discover the beauty of the Veporské vrchy, one of the most diverse locations in central Slovakia. They are the westernmost part of the entire geomorphological region of the Slovak Ore Mountains. The hill have an unusually varied relief, their highest peak is Fabova hoľa (1,439 m). Wandering through this charming landscape, where deep forests alternate with vast meadows and pastures, is one of the most beautiful in Slovakia. The unique landscape scenery, dominated by deep forests, is teeming with interesting and rare flora and fauna.

The core of this program is to inspire participants to embrace a more active and conscious lifestyle by unlocking new experiences, while also looking out for each other and themselves in a hiking environment. Therefore participants will have to attend a preparatory meeting to ensure everyone comes prepared and knows how to safely hike.

Participant Profile

  • Optimal age range: 14+ years old

  • Likes outdoor activities, seeks new adventures and wants to learn more about safe hiking.

  • Fully available to participate throughout the duration of the whole program.

  • No prior experience is required, but a basic level of physical fitness is necessary.

Location

  • Hike10 km in total. Elevation profile: 274m up and 274m down. Highest point 865 msl. – Map
  • Meeting is at 9:00 AM at the parking lot of Hotel Látky. The hike starts and ends at the hotel lot.

Useful information

  • Participation costs: There are no participation costs. Trainings are funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. However all participants are responsible for their own travel costs.

  • Health & Insurance: We do not organize insurance for our participants. If they wish to have coverage, participants must arrange insurance for themselves. However, we ask all participants to bring their European Health Insurance Cards, which can be used if they need hospital care.

  • What to bring: Identification card or passport, pocket money, comfortable and enough clothes for the outdoor activity (according to the weather forecast), hiking shoes, working gloves, water bottle, rain jacket, small backpack (15-20 l), spare shoes and socks in the car.
