On February 2nd, 2025, the “Com Calma” cultural space in Lisbon became a hub of creativity and dialogue as we hosted the Lisbon Film Festival. This special event, part of the Citizenship in Action project, brought together participants, old and new, to showcase the powerful documentaries and photographic work produced throughout the project’s activities. From the “Young People in Action” mobility in Peniche to the training courses in Budapest and Brno, the festival was a testament to the impact of storytelling in promoting active citizenship.

In addition to the main screenings, the festival revisited and showcased some of the outcomes of local initiatives such as “Faces of Campo de Ourique” and our participation in “Encontros de Alvito.” The portraits and interviews from “Faces of Campo de Ourique” provided a glimpse into the lives and perspectives of people from this Lisbon neighborhood, while the virtual mural from “Encontros de Alvito” shared the stories and voices of the Alvito community. By presenting these works at the festival, we were able to highlight the meaningful ways in which photography and videography can foster community connections and amplify unheard voices.

The festival concluded with a fun and challenging quiz organized by “Com Calma,” adding an interactive and entertaining twist to the evening. The Lisbon Film Festival was not just a showcase of artistic expression but also a gathering of like-minded individuals eager to make a difference through visual storytelling. The discussions, laughter, and shared passion for storytelling made this event an unforgettable milestone in our journey.
